Factory-built homes…manufactured homes…modular
homes…panelized homes.Think
they are all the same?They're
not.With the advances in
today's factory construction process, the terminology can get confusing.
Factory-Built Homes:
Many types of residential structures are constructed in a
factory setting.Under this
umbrella definition are several different
factory-built structures:
1. Manufactured Home: A

which are transported from the factory to the home site for
installation.
2. Mobile Home: A factory-built
structure built before June 15, 1976 - the year the HUD
Code went into effect. Mobile homes are designed to be used as single-family structures.

state or regional construction codes.
